We are seeking a Camper Care Specialist to help us support our campers’ unique needs throughout the week at Oncology Camp 2026.
As a member of our camp leadership team, you will get the unique opportunity to help create and lead a much-needed camp experience that helps childhood cancer patients and survivors receive the personalized support they deserve.
What is Oncology Camp?
Oncology Camp is a transformative program designed for childhood cancer patients and survivors ages 7-17.
All of our camps are offered free-of-cost to our families to help combat the long-term challenges of childhood cancer.
Our 2026 program will take place in Groton, MA, August 16-22.
Specific Responsibilities
Prior to your camp session, you will be responsible for working with our Program Director to review camper records, identify potential behavioral challenges, and suggest solutions to best support these children during the week of camp.
During your camp session, you will serve as a member of the camp’s Leadership Team, providing additional support where needed to help children with behavioral challenges thrive in the camp environment.
Most importantly, you will get the unique opportunity to help give childhood cancer patients and survivors an incredible week of camp: feeling understood, having fun, and building friendships to last a lifetime.
Qualifications
Applicants should be at least 21 years of age, be able to pass a background check, and be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
Strong candidates will possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Experience providing childcare
- Demonstrated professional experience working with children with behavioral challenges
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Highly organized
- Effective and supportive management style
- Creativity and resourcefulness
- Problem-solving skills
Expectations & Commitment
Most of the preparation and planning can be done remotely and around your own schedule.
Applicants must be able to commit to attending every day of the in-person camp session in Groton, MA (August 16-22, 2026). Applicants should be able to commit to help with this role through the execution of the camp session in 2026.
